Obituary

Jeffrey Alan Cammack
Bangor-Lucerne-In-Maine
Jeffrey Alan Cammack, was born 4-25-57 in the city of Bangor to Ralph E. Cammack and Laurie T. (Paul) Cammack. At age 62, Jeff went home to our loving, heavenly father on 12-28-19. Jeff was a BHS 1975 graduate. He joined the swim team and the football team. He, with his childhood friend, E.K. and the Bangor high school football team left many wonderful memories. Jeff joined the forestry program at the University of Maine in Orono after graduating high school. In the summer of 1977, he met Carmen at the Bounty in Bangor. In the month of April 1978, they were married. In their apartment on Maple St. in Bangor, their first daughter, Jessica Joy, was brought home. In their first home on Grove St. Court, April Lynn, their second daughter was brought home. In 1993, they moved to their dream home on Phillips Lake in Lucerne-In- Maine, which Jeff and many beloved friends, family, and fire fighters helped them to build. Family is everything to Jeff. The Ralph Cammack family was amazing. I first met them when they lived on Frazier St. on a Friday night. There was a pepperoni and mushroom pizza on the coffee table with a green salt shaker in the box .The salt shaker now sits on our breakfast nook table. If you messed with one of them on Frazier St., you messed with them all. They were all aunts, uncles, cousins and grandparents that lived on that street. Family. That is why family has been so important to Jeff.
Joining the fire department was natural for Jeff. Another family.
Jeff leaves behind his wife of 42 years, Carmen, his daughter Jessica and husband Matthew DeGrasse, daughter April Cammack and three beloved grandchildren, Alexis, Jack, and Mya; brother Joey, his sister Julie, his “boy” Ralph and many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.
A celebration of Jeff’s life will be held 11 am. Friday January 3, 2020 at Anah Shriners, 1404 Broadway, Bangor, ME. 04401, where relatives and friends are invited to share conversation and refreshments immediately following the service.
Those wishing to remember Jeff in a special way may contribute in his memory to Eastern Maine Community College, Fire Science Scholarship, 354 Hogan Rd., Bangor, ME. 04401.
Condolences to the family may be expressed at BrookingsSmith.com.

Because of the Fire Service family and working for the City of Bangor, my life was enriched by meeting, getting to know and working with Jeff Cammack. Whether meeting him when I was a Volunteer Firefighter, an Emergency Management Director for my town, serving on a committee together or a Public Health Nurse for the City of Bangor; he was always willing to meet you as an equal, with respect and get to whatever task might be at hand. Part of a team was what I always felt, whether working with him as a professional or Volunteer when in service with the American Red Cross. He worked with everyone, called a spade, a spade and if it wasn't going to work - called the shots on why and what needed to be done. One constant in his life was his love for family including his Fire Service family! Another constant, his smile and the twinkle in his eye, I never want to forget it. Serious when needed but with the finish of an expression which could put many at ease. He taught me many lessons when serving my community, knew how to say Thank You when you did a good job and was a shining example for many. Lost to soon, Jeffrey Cammack was a jewel in the rough, in the Crown of Bangor's beloved Native Sons! Thank you for your Service!

Jeff....I don't know what to say. Having grown up next to you in 'the old neighborhood,' I've literally known you and your family since before I can even remember. You were the ONLY person, besides me, who thought it would be cool for us to name our son "Zaker," after my grandfather, Zaker Ceaser, whom you knew and even worked for as a teenager. You were a great guy. Perhaps even my favorite Cammack. (Sorry, Ralph...lol) So, it is with a heavy heart that I now know you're gone. Thank you for your friendship and tremendous sense of humor. Thank you for your service to the City of Bangor. Rest in peace, brother. Much love, Chris Greeley. (Oh, and say hello to Zaker and Saidie up in Heaven for me, will 'ya? May God bless you all!!!)
