Bangor - Marjorie (Roberts) Tinker, 93, died peacefully on November 25, 2019. Marjorie was born in Lowell, MA on November 20, 1926, the daughter of Ora C. and Lillian A. Roberts.

When she was 7 months old the family returned to the family farm in Bradford. Marjorie graduated from Bangor High School in 1945 where she met and later married her classmate, George W. Tinker in 1946. In June of 2012 they celebrated 66 years of marriage.

Marge worked as a private secretary for many years at the Penobscot Court House, and later after raising her family returned to work at Penobscot Savings Bank. She was a member of National Grange, Eastern Star, and was a board member of the King's Daughters and Phillip-Strickland House.

She is survived by her brother, Fred Roberts and his wife Beverly “Bonnie” of Bradford; her daughter, Kathy Stead of West Bath; her son, Stuart Tinker and his wife, Penney of Bangor; three grandsons, Todd and Christopher Stead, both of West Bath, and James Tinker of Bangor. She has four great grandchildren, Sawyer, Olive, Seger, and Crosby Stead, all of West Bath. Many, many nieces and nephews that she dearly loved. She is also survived by the greatest neighbors anyone could ask for, Jody and Matt Bourassa and their sons, Blake, Jack and Trey.

She was predeceased by her parents, her sister, Barbara Nichols, and her husband, George.

Marge lived on Thomas Hill Road for over 60 years where she was known as “Tinkerbell” to everyone in the neighborhood. She moved to Boyd Place where she was surrounded and loved by her second family for the past few years.

The family would like to thank all her friends at Boyd Place for making the last years so happy for her. We would also like to thank the staff at Northern Light EMMC on both the ER and on the third floor for their kindness to Marge and the family.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. Condolences to the family may be expressed at

For 48 years, the McEvoy family lived across the street from Marge Tinker, her husband George and kids Kathy and Stu. She was always Tinkerbelle to me and my siblings although I am not sure how she got that nickname. Her door was always open, there was room at her kitchen table and a cookie in the jar, but best of all was her open heart and listening ear. During our visits in recent years, she could remember specific moments and conversations we'd had in my youth - the time no parent noticed my report card on the mantle or when my birthday was forgotten. We loved Tinkerbelle, and she loved us. To say they were the best neighbors in the world is not an exaggeration in the least. This year, all my siblings got together for Thanksgiving in Maine for the first time since we left Thomas Hill. Part of our reunion was spent sharing loving memories of Tinkerbelle. We send our love to Kathy, to Stu and Penney, and their families. She was blessed with a wonderfully full and long life.

Tinkerbell was a wonderful neighbor and a caring person. She will be missed by many, many people - family and friends who knew and loved her for years as well as those newer friends and acquaintances lucky enough to have crossed her path along the way. Rest In Peace, sweet Tinkerbell.

Stuart and family,

My condolences on the loss of your mom. My mother was 92 when she passed October 16th. Marge was still at Penobscot Savings when I started there a lifetime ago. She had such a vibrant personality and was always so kind to me. May she Rest In Peace.
