Obituary

BREWER – Robert “Bob” Higgins, 91, passed away on October 28, 2019 surrounded by his loving family. He was born on March 8, 1928, in Levant, the son of Bradley and Helen (York) Higgins.
Bob attended Bangor High School and later served in the U.S. Navy. He loved to work and began working when he was a teenager. He co-managed his own tire company with his wife, Natalie. In retirement from tires he started a successful firewood business. Bob was always ready to jump in and work, often filling in the vacancies in his businesses. He never asked an employee to do something that he wouldn’t do himself. Customers and vendors enjoyed Bob’s warm personality, vast knowledge of his business, and his sense of humor. He was a devoted, thoughtful, and caring husband, companion, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He loved to be surrounded by family and it will be hard to say goodbye.
In addition to his parents, and wife of 54 years, Bob was predeceased by his brothers, Everett and Sidney; and his sheltie, Champ. He is survived by his loving daughter, Lynne Higgins Lovely and her companion, Mike; devoted companion, Stella Clement; granddaughters, Melissa and her husband, Jamie, Tena and her husband, Jaime; great-grandchildren, Diego, Miguel, Maddy, David, and Mia; Stella’s children Bethie and her husband, Jeff, Kim and her husband, Emmitt, and BJ and her husband, Allen; sisters, Ellie and Fran; many nieces, nephews, and friends.
The family would like to thank the staff at Westgate Center for their endless caring and compassion during his stay.
Relatives and friends are invited to call from 5-7pm, Friday, November 1, 2019 at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center Street, Bangor where a funeral service will be held 1pm, Saturday, November 2, 2019, with the Rev. Dr. Rex H. Garrett, officiating. Those who wish to honor Bob in a special way may make gifts in his memory to, the Bangor Humane Society, 693 Mt. Hope Ave, Bangor, ME 04401. Dear Lynn, Missy, Tena, and family, we are so sorry for your loss. As a little girl it was always so much fun to come to Uncle Bob and Auntie Nat’s to gather as family and swim in the lake. He was loved by all of us and will be missed.
With love,
Denys Higgins Byrum
