Obituary

Eddington - Ida Elaine Sites (Nana) passed away May 23, 2019 at Winterberry Heights Assisted Living in Bangor after a brief illness.

Ida was born May 6, 1915, one of seven children to Alexander and Lina (Monk) Cunningham in Bangor. She attended Bangor Schools graduating from Bangor High School in 1933. Ida learned to cook, sew, play the piano and violin during her childhood years. She was a Girl Scout and planned to become a nurse to care for others.

After graduating from high school, Ida married her first husband George L. Bartlett at age of 18. She became a homemaker raising her three children, George Jr., Joan and Bobby. During her husband's illness, Ida became the provider for her family by working at Viner Shoe Company. Ida was a dedicated employee who walked to work early mornings as she never learned to drive.

She was a loving Mother proud of her children and grandchildren. Ida had a wonderful sense of humor and always had a smile for everyone along with great advice.

Many years after her husband's death, Ida married her second husband, Ralph E. Sites. Together they spent retirement between their homes in Eddington, and Zephyrhills, Florida. She loved going to Florida and even learned to play golf.

Ida was predeceased by her husband George, her son Robert, brothers, George, Francis, Irving, Louis and sisters, Irene and Evangeline as well as her second husband Ralph E. Sites.

She is survived by her children; son, George L Bartlett Jr. (Patricia) Fort Myers, Florida; daughter, Joan Ness, Stockton Springs; eight grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren and one great, great grandchild with one on the way. She leaves several loving nieces, nephews and a sister in law.

Thank you to her neighbor Russell Smith and his mother, Sara Smith for the friendship and caring over the years.

The family would like to thank the entire staff at Winterberry Heights for providing the loving care given to Ida in the over five years she resided there. So many special people creating a home like atmosphere with love and support. We love you all. A thank you to Dr. David Koffman and nurse Jennifer for the exceptional care given to Ida.

A celebration of lda's life will be held Saturday, June 22, 2019 from 2 to 4:00 p.m. at the Family Reception Center of Brookings-Smith, 163 Center St., Bangor. A graveside service for the family will be held in Pine Grove Cemetery, Bangor following the reception. Condolences to the family may be expressed at BrookingsSmith.com
