Obituary for Arthur John Emery

Arthur John Emery
Glenburn – Arthur John Emery (known as “Jack” to friends and family), 69, died February 3rd, 2018 at a Bangor hospital. He was born February 12th, 1948, in Bangor, the son of Daniel J. and Rena I. (Cummings) Emery. He is survived by his wife, Eleanor Crawford of Hampden, and daughters, Jennifer Anne and Rena Jean; as well as his step-children, Buffie, James, and Mary Drew.
Jack graduated from Hermon Academy, Class of 1966. Following graduation, he served with the U.S. Navy in Southeast Asia during the Vietnam War. After completing his service, he returned to Maine and worked at Kagan-Lown shoe manufacturing where he met his first wife of 41 years, Linda Worster, who predeceased him. Jack spent many of his working years in the shoe manufacturing business, having worked for San Antonio Shoe and Spot-Built Hyde for nearly two decades.
An avid sports car enthusiast, Jack was well known for his love of racing and restoring classic automobiles and spent considerable time cruising America and enjoying motorsports with friends and family. Jack was also a lifelong HAM radio operator under the call sign, KA1GM, a hobby he acquired while in service to the U.S. Navy.
Those who knew Jack remember an exceptionally smart and witty man whose patience and kindness knew few bounds. His devotion to family and friends will never be forgotten and his generous spirit greatly missed.
A gathering to honor his memory will be held from 3 to 8pm Wednesday, February 7, 2018 at his home in Glenburn. Graveside service will be held in the spring at Lakeview Cemetery in Glenburn. Condolences to the family may be expressed at BrookingsSmith.com
