Obituary for Russell "Russ" Lufkin

Russell "Russ" Lufkin
HOLDEN - Russ Lufkin, 69, died on July 16, 2017, at his home due to pancreatic cancer. He was born on November 9, 1947 in Milo, the son of George and Mildred (Plourde) Lufkin.

Russ graduated from Milo High School, class of 1966. After high school, he went on to St. Francis College in Biddeford. Following college, he served with the Army National Guard starting as an officer. During his 18 years of service, he became a pilot and flew Huey helicopters. He ended his military career as a captain. He married Linda Folsom on August 14, 1971, and they had two daughters Angela and Allison. He started his own business, Quality Cash Register, and he was dedicated to his company for over 38 years.

He was predeceased by his father, George Lufkin, and brother in law, James Farrer. Surviving in addition to his mother, Mildred, are his loving wife of 45 years, Linda (Folsom) Lufkin, daughters, Angela Lufkin and Allison (Lufkin) Ford and her husband William Ford; granddaughter, Ella Ford; one brother Galen Lufkin, and one sister Dianna Farrer; many nieces and nephews. Russ also loved his two golden retrievers Manny and Brady. A special thank you to Dana Dickson and St. Josephs Hospice Staff for their care and compassion through Russell’s illness.

Russ was an extremely hard worker and in his spare time he loved spending time at his Beech Hill camp. He was also passionate about Corvettes. He owned many of them throughout the years. It was not uncommon for him to be out washing and waxing his cars.

Relatives and friends are welcome to call 5-7 PM, Thursday, July 20, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center Street, Bangor, where a funeral service will be held 10 AM, Friday, July 21, 2017. The family invites family and friends to share conversation and refreshments at the Family Reception Center of Brookings-Smith, 163 Center Street, Bangor, following the service. Interment will be at Woodlawn Cemetery, Brewer. Condolences to the family may be expressed at www.BrookingsSmith.com.
