Obituary for Mary Holland

Mary Holland
Eddington - Mary Holland, 78, died, July 7, 2017 at a Bangor Health Care Facility with family and friends by her side. She was born August 11, 1938, in Kingfield, the daughter of Ralph and Alice (Moody) Moores.

Her working years involved being a bookkeeper for the family business in Brewer where she did detailed and accurate work. Some of Mary’s happiest memories were family outings at camp on Brewer Lake, boating excursions on the downeast Maine coast, business trips to Japan with her husband, enjoying time in her Florida condo, cooking, gardening, shopping in downtown Bangor, and simply being at home which she always kept warm and inviting.

In addition to her parents, Mary was predeceased by two brothers, Ralph and Gene Moores. She is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Edward Holland; daughter, Ann Skolfield of Bangor; son, David Holland of Brewer; son, John Holland and his wife, Anne, of England; grandson, Zachery Skolfield of Bangor; granddaughter, Phoebe James-Holland of England; sisters, Carolyn Perry and her husband, Jack, of Hampden, and Charlotte Hammond and her husband, Ralph, of Brooks; many nieces and nephews; special friend, Dale Ruopp.

The family would like to thank the staff of the memory care unit at Bangor Nursing for the love and care shown to Mary as well as the in-home care she received from Penney Clark during this most challenging journey.

Gifts in Mary’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 383 US Rt. One, Suite 2C Scarborough, ME 04074.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, July 15, 2017 at the Brewer Chapel of Brookings-Smith, 55 South Main St., Brewer. Friends are invited to call from 1:00 p.m. until time of service. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments at the Receptions Rooms of Brookings-Smith immediately following the service. Condolences to the family may be expressed at BrookingsSmith.com.
